Creatine kinase (CK) is a key marker of muscle damage and overuse across both skeletal and cardiac muscle. Elevated CK can point to intense training, injury or strain. Urea and uric acid reflect protein metabolism and muscle breakdown, helping you calibrate training intensity and avoid pushing into overtraining.
Why is kidney function important in sport?
Athletes place heavy demands on their kidneys, especially with high protein intake and large hydration needs. The panel includes creatinine and eGFR to assess filtration, plus urea and uric acid to evaluate waste elimination and metabolic stress. Tracking these supports proper recovery, hydration and metabolic function.
