Fatigue &
Iron / Anemia
Check-Up
find the root cause
of running on empty.

Exhausted despite enough sleep? Persistent tiredness is often your body flagging something underneath — low iron, a B12 or vitamin D shortfall, a thyroid issue, or anemia. This panel reads the 17 markers behind low energy and anemia together, so you find the cause instead of guessing.

Two questions, one blood draw: why am I tired, and am I anemic?

Fatigue and anemia overlap so much that testing for one without the other leaves gaps. Low iron is the classic cause of both — but tiredness can equally come from a B12 or vitamin D shortfall or an underactive thyroid, while anemia can stem from iron, vitamins, or inflammation. So we merged the two panels into one.

The result reads your complete blood count and full iron profile — ferritin, iron, transferrin and saturation — alongside vitamin B12, folate, vitamin D and TSH. B12 and folate are both essential for making red blood cells, so a shortfall in either can drive both fatigue and anemia.

Think of iron like a water tank: iron deficiency is the level running low; anemia is when it drops so far the tap can't deliver enough oxygen. Reading energy, iron and anemia markers together tells you which stage you're at — and whether the cause is nutritional, hormonal, or inflammatory — so you fix the right thing.

Before your draw: fast for 8–12 hours, stay hydrated with water, and avoid alcohol, fatty foods and intense exercise the day before. If you take iron supplements, ask us about timing — recent doses can shift iron readings.

What we're looking for

The usual suspects behind
fatigue and anemia.

Iron deficiency & anemia

The most common cause of both. Low iron means less oxygen reaches your tissues — the blood count plus full iron profile catch it early, before it becomes anemia.

B12 & folate

Both are essential for red blood cell production and energy. A deficiency in either is a common, easily corrected cause of both fatigue and anemia.

Vitamin D

Low vitamin D is a frequent, easily missed driver of muscle weakness, low mood and chronic fatigue — especially through the Swiss winter.

Thyroid (TSH)

An under- or overactive thyroid is a classic hidden cause of low energy. TSH flags it so you can address the hormonal side, not just the nutritional one.

How it works

Book online

Choose your clinic — Zurich city centre or Geneva Meyrin — and a time slot. No GP referral required. Booking takes under 2 minutes.

Come in for your draw

The blood draw takes under 10 minutes. Fast for 8–12 hours beforehand for accurate iron and vitamin readings. Water is fine.

Receive your results

Results by email within 4–6 days, with a report that explains each marker in plain language — not just numbers. Also available on the Kiro platform.

Act on the cause

Your report points to the likely driver — iron, a vitamin, thyroid, or inflammation — and the next step. If it needs medical follow-up, you'll know exactly what to raise with your doctor.

FAQs

Frequently
asked
questions

Why combine fatigue and anemia in one test?
Because they overlap heavily. Iron deficiency is the leading cause of both, and tiredness can also come from low B12, vitamin D or thyroid issues — while anemia can be nutritional or inflammatory. Testing them together, rather than as two separate panels, gives you the full picture from a single blood draw and avoids missing a cause that sits just outside one panel.
What's the difference between iron deficiency and anemia?
Iron deficiency means your iron stores are low; anemia is when there are too few red blood cells or too little hemoglobin to carry oxygen. You can be iron-deficient long before you're anemic. This panel measures ferritin and the full iron profile alongside the blood count, so it catches the early stage as well as established anemia.
How do B12 and folate relate to fatigue and anemia?
Vitamin B12 and folate are both essential for producing healthy red blood cells and for energy metabolism. A shortfall in either can cause fatigue and a specific type of anemia, often with symptoms like weakness, numbness or tingling. Measuring them alongside your iron profile and blood count separates a vitamin-related cause from an iron-related one.
What are the common causes of persistent fatigue?
The frequent ones this panel screens for are iron deficiency, vitamin B12 or folate deficiency, low vitamin D, and thyroid dysfunction (via TSH). Lifestyle factors — poor sleep, stress, dehydration, low activity — also contribute, but a blood test rules the physiological causes in or out first.
Can I have anemia or a deficiency without knowing it?
Yes. Both develop gradually, and mild symptoms are easily written off as ordinary tiredness. Routine testing matters especially for women, vegetarians, athletes and people with chronic conditions. This check-up detects subtle shifts in iron, vitamins and red blood cell markers early, before they become a bigger problem.
